Grodan Granulate is a loose stone wool substrate that absorbs water. Its loose, fibrous structure means it can be used in many different systems, either on its own or mixed with organic media. Adding granulate to organic components raises water-holding capacity and gives a more open, airy mix, and its stable structure doesn't compact. Grodan describes it as flexible and easy to process. Fine is the shortest-fibre grade in the Grodan range, which also includes Medium and Coarse. Use it where you want stone wool's balance of water and air in a loose-fill or blended medium. Grodan stone wool is naturally slightly alkaline, so soak at pH 5.5 to bring the granulate to approximately pH 6.2.
